How to Pack Wisely When Going to Study Abroad

Studying abroad is a dream of many as this not only helps you live independently but also enables you to explore new opportunities. When attending an education fair in Chennai, you would have liked the idea to come to a new country and city and start a new life. When shifting base all you have is two suitcases to pack everything for this new phase of life. Packing can be cumbersome as it is difficult to decide what to keep and what not to keep. Some basic things which you must keep in mind when packing to go and study abroad are: 

Know the Local Weather 

Always know the weather of the place you are shifting to. Some places are hot throughout the year whereas some are cold. For some destinations, you need all kinds of clothes as temperature difference is too much. Packing sweaters for a warm place or shorts for a cold place will just result in waste of space. Research or ask about the weather of the place and pack accordingly. 

Formal Outfits 

You should always pack one formal outfit for any function at the university or some other social function you might need to attend. Landing in a new city and looking for formal clothes will be a waste of time and you also might end up spending more money. 

Shoes 

You will know what kinds of shoes you will need to pack but always keep in mind to pack one good pair of walking shoes. While studying abroad you will not always hire cars or drive one. You might need to walk around or use public transport. Walking shoes work in all weathers and are very helpful when you are exploring a new city. 

Toiletries

It is not that you will not get toiletries in a new country but sometimes it can be more expensive and you might not get what you want. Do not pack unnecessary toiletries that would just take up space but do take all the essential items that you will need. 

Carry Your Linen 

It is always a good idea to carry your towels and bed sheets. Even if they will be available at the place you intend to stay at it is always good to carry one set. Do not carry expensive linen but carry something which can use and throw or just give away. There is no point in carrying sheets back home after the course but to have a nice and clean set will help you sleep well. 

Check Your Weight 

You might want to carry lots of stuff when you leave home, but the luggage allowance of the airline needs to be kept in mind. Get a weighing scale and do check the weight before you go to the airport. As a student with limited budget, the last thing you would want is to pay extra baggage allowance. 

We will tell you about the colleges and courses in the city but you also need to ensure that you pack well and carry all essential items which you will need. Apart from packing all important things it also matters how you pack them. You should try and roll clothes and pack them and fill the spaces with smaller clothes. With proper packing you will be comfortable in a new city and will not be stressed till you know everything about the place.
